GM Canada August 2008 Sales Results

(August 2008 and August 2007 both had 26 selling days)

OSHAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Sept. 3, 2008) - For August 2008, General Motors of Canada dealers delivered 32,097 units, down from a year ago.

"GM Canada's August sales reflect low inventory levels on some of our key small cars as a result of the ongoing shift in consumer demand to more fuel efficient choices," said Marc Comeau, GM of Canada's vice-president of sales, service, and marketing. "We did see strong performance from our recently launched vehicles like the Chevrolet Malibu (+52.4%), Pontiac Vibe (+37.9%) and Cadillac CTS (+29.5%)."

Comeau added, "While we continue to monitor the Canadian marketplace we are anticipating a strong finish for the year. GM has increased production to meet the surge in consumer demand for small cars like the Chevrolet Cobalt and Pontiac G5. We also look forward to the launch of the newest addition to our family of crossovers, the Chevrolet Traverse, set to arrive on dealer lots this fall."
