From Spending a Day at a Local Amusement Park to an Evening at the Theater -- Yellow Pages Help Families Plan Summer "Staycations"
Yellow Pages Association Names Top Ten "Staycation" Headings Just in Time for July 4 Holiday
BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ--(Marketwire - June 30, 2008) - As rising fuel prices and tight
economic times cause many to rethink their typical summer vacation plans,
the Yellow Pages
Association™ (YPA™) advises consumers to turn to print or Internet Yellow Pages for their
summer "staycation" needs.
With the July 4 holiday weekend just around the corner, high prices have
many travelers considering a "staycation," which is defined by the Urban
Dictionary as a vacation that is spent near one's home. Consumers find
they can get more for their money by staying close to home and with the
American Automobile Association predicting the average North American
vacation will cost $244 per day for two people for lodging and meals, many
travelers are considering alternatives.
According to YPA, the Top Ten "Staycation" Yellow
Pages headings based on relevancy are:
1. Recreational Parks
2. Amusement Parks
3. Golf Courses
4. Campgrounds & RV Parks
5. Theaters
6. Bowling
7. Skating Rinks
8. Spas
9. Museums
10. Marinas
"You don't have to travel far to enjoy your summer vacation, save gas and
money by going to local recreation areas, theaters or amusement parks,"
said Stephanie Hobbs, vice president of communications of YPA. "Yellow
Pages directories in print and online serve as comprehensive guides for
families who want to plan a short or long local 'staycation.'"
In addition to business listings, many Yellow Pages directories and online
sites include community guides containing area maps, museums, theaters and
annual community events.
