FreeToChooseOurMeals.com Reviews Nanny of the Month San Francisco Mayor Newsom

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - August 6, 2010) -  FreeToChooseOurMeals.com recently reviewed The Center of Consumer Freedom's Nanny of the Month nomination: San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom for limiting consumer choices. Eric Mar, member of the Board of Supervisors for the City and County of San Francisco, is also drafting legislation to limit parental rights.

Bob Cutler, CEO of Creative Consumer Concepts (C3), said that these blatant attempts to limit consumer choices are outrageous. "It is a person's right to eat or drink what he or she chooses. To infer that consumers create costs or liabilities to the general public is a false and misleading argument that will erode the rights of all consumers if left unchallenged. It's not the government's right to interfere with choices that violate our constitutional rights as Americans. The government clearly thinks that individuals are incapable of making decisions for themselves and their families," said Cutler.

The Center for Consumer Freedom nominated Mayor Newsom for his attempts to ban bottled water on city property, stop the sale of pets and rid calorically sweetened soda from vending machines on city property. In May, Santa Clara County Officials fast-tracked legislation and passed The Kids' Meal Toy Ban. Shortly thereafter Mar requested legislation to ban kids' meal toys in San Francisco.
