Flood & Peterson Insurance Receives 3 Awards From United Way of Weld County

F&P Also Supports United Way of Larimer County & Mile High United Way in Denver

GREELEY, CO--(Marketwire - March 3, 2009) - Flood & Peterson Insurance, Inc., one of the region's largest independent insurance brokers, recently received three awards -- including the top corporate award -- for its outstanding support of United Way of Weld County's 2008 campaign.

"Flood & Peterson had a strong campaign this year," said Robin Henson, resource development account manager, United Way of Weld County.

In addition to supporting United Way of Weld County, Flood & Peterson employees in the Fort Collins office increased their annual donation, much of which supports United Way of Larimer County.

The Greeley and Eaton offices boosted their support of Weld County United Way, while employees in Flood & Peterson's Denver office also increased their contributions to Mile High United Way in Denver.

United Way of Weld County presented Flood & Peterson with three awards:

         -- Centennial Circle Award;
         -- Cornerstone Partners Award; and
         -- Outstanding Support to Human Services Award for a Major Firm.

"It's who we are," said Rick Jenkins, executive vice president at Flood & Peterson and a United Way board member. "One of our core values is to support communities in which we work. Since United Way touches so many people through its different agencies, it's a great organization for the company and our employees to support."

The Centennial Circle award is United Way of Weld County's highest honor to corporations and organizations for outstanding generosity. The criteria include the contribution of a significant in-kind gift, individual management contributions of $750 or more and a 10 percent increase in corporate and employee giving over previous years.

"This is the award companies strive for each year," Henson said.

Flood & Peterson's Jenkins explained, "We felt strongly that 2008 was a year to give back to the community. It's important to help those struggling in these tough economic times."

The second award, Cornerstone Partner, is given to companies and foundations who choose to direct all or a portion of their corporate contributions to administrative and fundraising expenses, which enable United Way to direct 100 percent of individual contributions to UW programs and services.

"Our Cornerstone Partners are our backbone," Henson said. "Our success is due to community members like Flood & Peterson." She added that United Way of Weld County's administrative costs for agency fundraising are 16 percent of their budget.

United Way staff voted Flood & Peterson winner of the Outstanding Support to Human Services Award for its donations and such volunteer support as board of director service and fundraising events.

Jenkins, who has served on the United Way board for four years, said Flood & Peterson employees have volunteered for United Way throughout his 32 years at the company.
