First Time Ever -- Felinity Workout Launches in U.S.
Perfect Gift for Mother's Day!
NEW YORK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- May 7, 2007 -- The "Core Sensuality™" DVD series, the sexy workout from Toronto's Felinity Studio that helps women increase core strength and flexibility, will be available in the U.S. on May 8, 2007. Created by Felinity founder and professional dancer Alyson Joy, "Core Sensuality™" has already achieved great success in Canada, inspiring women of all ages (and sizes) to boost their self-esteem and body awareness by connecting mind and body. Through a unique combination of dance-based exercises, Pilates and yoga, the program encourages women to explore their own natural movement.
"The Felinity movements are slower and more intentional than in many workouts, and that helps women understand that power and femininity are compatible," says Joy. "This enhances a woman's self-image and also helps her feel more confident in all areas of her life. When you let go of worrying about what you look like when you're dancing, you'll perform with pleasure. We teach you how to walk and even crawl with feline power."
The Felinity "Core Sensuality™" program is built into three DVDs; "First Step" is an introduction to the Felinity syllabus and philosophy. Get it on! builds on the basics of "First Step" and encourages viewers to play with their new knowledge in a stimulating doorframe routine. The third DVD, "Pole Play," takes the Felinity philosophy to the pole (pole not included in the package) and turns it into a sophisticated prop for sensual athletics. Each DVD contains bonus dances from Joy and a fun dance routine that puts everything together using the moves learned in the workout. They also include commentary from Joy and co-executive producer Helen Clune that further expound on the Felinity philosophy and workout.
"Felinity is a doorway to personal expression," adds Joy, who developed the program in her popular two-year-old downtown Toronto studio.
She now teaches more than seven levels of Felinity on-site at the 2000- square-foot facility in downtown Toronto, and she is working on a certification process to groom Felinity instructors for growing clientele. A classically trained dancer and graduate of The School of Toronto Dance Theatre in Canada, Joy developed the Felinity system using her dance and choreography training, while incorporating freestyle dance movements to make routines more playful and interpretive.
The greatest difference between the Felinity "Core Sensuality™" workouts and other pole dancing and sensual workout DVDs is best explained by Joy herself: "This is about self-discovery, where the workout is for you, and being your own audience. It is not about performing or being sexy for someone else; it is a relationship with one's innate physicality and creating your own movements, rather than learning someone else's, that builds confidence, allowing you to take more risks and really challenge yourself."
In addition to promoting confidence, the mind-body connection and self- appreciation, the Felinity "Core Sensuality™" program builds muscle mass, keeps joints and ligaments flexible and improves balance. Joy's technique also helps tone the abdominal and PC muscles, which help post- pregnancy and post-menopausal women, and can help women achieve orgasms more easily. Many of Joy's most accomplished students are between 40 and 50 years old, and they say they have never felt or looked better. A fitness buff and mother of three herself, Clune was so wowed by the classes that she brought Alyson to the DVD series' eventual distributor Video Service Corp., a veteran of the fitness video business. By promoting movement in the spine and hips, the Felinity "Core Sensuality™" workout helps fight the joint stiffness and lack of mobility that often comes with age.
"I want to encourage women to open up and express themselves through movement. Women can be strong and grounded in their natural female shape, which can include curves," explained Joy. "The word felinity derives from feline, moving gracefully like a cat, so Felinity seemed like a perfect name."
The first two DVDs in the Felinity Core Sensuality™ series, "First Step" and "get it on!" are available wherever DVDs are sold (price: $14.98). The third DVD, "Pole Play," is offered at www.felinity.ca.
