First Look Studios Goes Green With Shorewood Packaging
LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - December 18, 2007) - First Look Studios (PINKSHEETS: FRST) has
taken active steps to reduce its environmental impact through an
unprecedented agreement with Shorewood Packaging, a business of
International Paper. The goal of this collaboration is to support a tree
planting program that will offset emissions generated by the manufacture of
one million DVD packages.
"At First Look we are focused on more than just profits. This initiative is
extremely important to the studio and our staff. We will also look to our
business associates to continue this effort through to the consumer and
beyond. The future depends on our environmental responsibility," says
First Look COO, Dean Wilson.
According to Dustin Wills, Shorewood's Vice President of Sales, "First Look
is the first studio to take such comprehensive action to promote recycling
and attempt to reduce their carbon footprint. We look forward to a long
and dynamic relationship with First Look that will encourage others to work
toward new ways to promote environmental stewardship."
Additionally, with the assistance of Shorewood, First Look Studios has
switched to 100 percent recycled Prokote™ paperboard Flip-Paks for its
screeners. Paper usage is being reduced by printing marketing information
directly on the Flip-Paks. Package printing will be water-based coated
instead of UV; final product wraps will be made of 100#, 30 percent
recycled paper. Finally, package recycling instructions will be given to
consumers and buyers on First Look products.
As the relationship continues, First Look and Shorewood have plans to
launch additional programs promoting sustainable packaging.
Prokote™ is a registered trademark of Cascades, Inc.
The U.S. and UK patents for Flip-Pak are held by Flip-Pak Limited, Bristol,
UK.
