El Capitan Canyon Welcomes Fall With Three Packages

Guests Enjoy the Wine Harvest and a Campfire Under the Stars

SANTA BARBARA, CA--(Marketwire - August 31, 2009) - El Capitan Canyon, nature lodging just north of Santa Barbara, announces three packages valid Sept. 1 to Nov. 25. Fall brings colorful foliage, wine tasting and the start of the annual monarch butterfly migration to California's Central Coast.

Canyon to Wine Country Adventure, El Capitan Canyon's popular fall package, returns in time for the grape harvest. The package includes a two-night stay in a Creekside King Cabin, featuring a gas fireplace and soaking tub. Guests receive a complimentary insulated wine tote containing two tasting passes for either the Santa Barbara Winery tasting room, located in downtown Santa Barbara, or the Lafond tasting room, located at the vineyard on the Santa Ynez hillsides; a bottle of Santa Barbara wine; two signature wine glasses; and a keepsake bottle opener. Guests also receive a s'mores kit and a bundle of firewood to light up a campfire at night.

The $575 package is offered Sunday through Thursday, Sept. 1 through Nov. 25, 2009, subject to availability. Package price is based on double occupancy, does not include taxes or gratuity and excludes holidays.

With the Fireside Dinner Package, guests enjoy a mild autumn evening under the stars by the campfire. The package includes a one-night stay in a choice of cabins, a Barbecue Kit delivered to the door and a s'mores kit for dessert. Barbecue Kits at the Canyon make cooking over an open fire easy and fun. The kits include all the ingredients and utensils. Menu options include more elaborate dishes such as marinated seafood, tri tip and pork chops, to simpler fare including chicken and hamburgers. Side dishes include salad, baked beans and garlic bread.

This package is $265 for the Creekside Queen Cabin and dinner for two (taxes and gratuity not included); rates for other cabins and groups of four are available. The package is offered Sunday through Thursday, Sept. 1 through Nov. 25, 2009, subject to availability and excluding holidays.

For a little rejuvenation of the mind and body, the Canyon is offering the Relax & Renew package. It includes a two-night stay in a Creekside Cabin and two aromatherapy massages at the Creekside Canyon Spa. Guests can book their Canyon treatments in the cedar spa cabin, or for an alfresco experience, treatments are offered under the spa tents, weather permitting. Guests also receive a bottle of Happy Camper wine and two signature wine glasses.

The package is $645 (taxes and gratuity not included) and is offered Sunday through Thursday, Sept. 1 through Nov. 25, 2009, subject to availability and excluding holidays.

The Canyon's many amenities are available for all guests and include a solar-heated swimming pool and the Canyon Market & Deli, which serves hot meals as well as selling groceries, camping supplies and unique gifts. Available activities include biking through the Canyon on complimentary bikes, hiking 15 miles of trails or simply sitting back to savor a glass of wine and enjoy the sounds of nature. Canyon staff can assist in planning an array of off-site day trips, including horseback riding, golfing, ocean kayaking, monarch butterfly park tours, whale watching and tours of downtown Santa Barbara.

Heated tents and cabins dot the canyon between sycamore trees showing their fall colors. The accommodations provide upscale furnishings in warm earth tones and offer a variety of sleeping configurations. Both the cabins and tents are furnished with duvets, western-style blankets, linens and plush towels along with fire pits and picnic tables. Cabins have full bathrooms and kitchenettes and many also have large soaking tubs and gas fireplaces. Spacious safari tents feature electric lighting, screened windows and doors with zip-down flaps. Convenient, modern bathroom and shower facilities are located in nearby structures.
