ENCAP Awarded Farm Technology Grant
Lt. Governor Barbara Lawton to Visit Company; Praises ENCAP for Utilizing New Technology to Create Environmentally Friendly Products as Well as Local Jobs
GREEN BAY, WI--(Marketwire - July 31, 2007) - ENCAP™, LLC, inventor of advanced soil
technologies that fight erosion, establish seeds and hold fertilizers in
place, today announced the honor of receiving an Agricultural Development &
Diversification Grant from the Wisconsin Department of Trade and Consumer
Protection (DATCP). The substantial grant is part of a half-million dollar
effort by Governor Doyle and the state of Wisconsin to assist local
organizations with research and project implementation in fields such as
ethanol production, organic farming and various other agricultural sectors.
Lieutenant Governor Barbara Lawton, along with DATCP Secretary, Rod
Nilsestuen, met with ENCAP executives on Tuesday, July 31, to discuss how
the company's Solid Separation Technology (SST™) can benefit the entire
agricultural community. ENCAP's SST™ allows existing separation
equipment (such as dewatering drums) to be more effective in separating the
solids, nutrients and contaminates. The end result is cleaner water for
field application, more solids and better recovery of minerals and
nutrients within the solids. This technology can be especially useful for
farmers when dealing with solid removal and nutrient isolation in manure
management.
"Wisconsin is proud to be home to companies such as ENCAP, that develop new
technologies to make farming more efficient and environmentally friendly,
while creating new jobs in the process," said Lt. Governor Lawton.
"By awarding ENCAP this generous grant, the state of Wisconsin is making an
investment in the entire farming community, both on a local and national
level," said Chris Calawerts, Business Development Manager of ENCAP. "Our
Solid Separation Technology is an environment-friendly way for all
agricultural producers to manage manure and produce value-added products
from manure solids."
Along with SST™ research, the grant will also be used to transform
additional waste products into environment-friendly products for the turf,
landscape and agricultural markets. Each of these new end products will
utilize ENCAP's Advanced Soil Technology (AST™), which can currently be
found on the shelves of the nation's largest retailers, including Lowe's
and Home Depot, and distributed through landscape, golf and fire
restoration professionals.
