Cyclone Power Technologies Completes Gasoline Combustion Tests; Green Engine Produces Few Noxious Emissions
POMPANO BEACH, FL--(Marketwire - September 20, 2007) - Cyclone Power Technologies (PINKSHEETS: CYPW) announced today that it has successfully tested its Green Revolution
Engine to verify the combustion temperatures of low octane gasoline. The
design of Cyclone's fuel injector, which works with a primary and secondary
air source, maintained a low temperature flame front (under 2300 degrees
Fahrenheit) with an extremely clean burn.
The importance of the company's recent test is environmental in nature, but
with major cost advantages. As a result of the low temperature burn of the
gasoline -- as opposed to the extremely high temperatures produced in
internal combustion engines -- the Cyclone engine produced little or no
nitrogen oxide emissions, and kept carbon monoxide levels at a minimum.
Additionally, the cylindrical design of the engine's combustion chamber
effectively eliminated much of the unburnt hydrocarbons from the fuel
source.
Nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide and hydrocarbons are poisonous materials
that are often controlled in internal combustion engines by means of
catalytic converters. While all gasoline cars on the American roads are
required to have this expensive component, few if any smaller engine
applications, such as lawnmowers, contain a catalytic converter. This is
one major reason why the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has found
that the 54 million Americans mowing their lawns each weekend with
gas-powered mowers may be contributing as much as five percent of the
nation's air pollution.
"The low temperature design of the Cyclone external combustion engine can
help reduce the emission of noxious materials in our environment at a
greatly reduced cost over current I/C solutions," stated Harry Schoell,
Cyclone's CEO and engine inventor. "We believe that it's time our nation
started to look closely at the advantages of Cyclone's technology over
current alternatives."
About Cyclone
Cyclone holds the U.S. patent, international patent applications, and
exclusive commercial rights to the Green Revolution Engine, an
environmentally friendly and highly efficient external combustion,
heat-regenerative engine. Developed by Cyclone's President and CEO, Harry
Schoell, the Green Revolution Engine regenerates (or recycles) its heat,
which allows it to run cleaner, cooler and more efficiently than
traditional internal combustion engines. It is capable of running on any
liquid or gaseous fuel, including ethanol and propane, and is lubricated
with de-ionized water instead of motor oil. By eliminating many subsystems
like oil pumps, radiators, catalytic converters and fuel injectors,
Cyclone's Green Revolution Engine is expected to cost less to manufacture,
operate and maintain; however, it is highly scalable and sufficiently
powerful for applications ranging from lawn equipment and small home
generators, large stand alone generators, to cars, trucks, buses, RVs,
boats and ships, as well as earth moving equipment and locomotives.
