Continental Airlines Selects Dynamsoft SourceAnywhere for VSS

VSS Add-On 14 Times Faster and Accelerates Remote Access Over WAN

VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwire - August 19, 2008) - Dynamsoft Corporation today announced Continental Airlines, the world's fifth largest airline, has implemented SourceAnywhere for VSS. After experiencing latency issues which stemmed from a decision to move the company's servers over the WAN from Texas to North Carolina, Continental Airlines selected the remote access add-on tool for Microsoft Visual SourceSafe as part of a version control system. The development team immediately benefited from the tool's speed.

SourceSafe was designed for small teams in a LAN environment. Since it was not optimized for remote access, SourceSafe users experience slow performance over HTTP. Because of these performance problems, teams waste precious development time waiting for code to download.

During the development process, the development team loads all the files local to each machine. One consistent problem each team member experienced using VSS was that this process was taking almost five hours to download all 90,000 files from the data center to Houston. "The Continental.com development team has drastically reduced wait times when downloading code by implementing SourceAnywhere for VSS," explained Trent Taylor, Technology Analyst, Continental Airlines. "I have estimated that SourceAnywhere for VSS version 5.1 was about 7 times faster than SourceSafe. And now version 5.2 seems about 14 times faster."
