Clean Coal and Renewable Energy Projects Underway in the U.K., an Industrial Info News Alert
JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA--(Marketwire - July 2, 2008) - Researched by Industrial Info
Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) -- A coal-fired power project that promises
"near-zero emissions" under way in the U.K. at Hatfield in South Yorkshire
will contribute to carbon-saving by using integrated gasification
combined-cycle technology and carbon capture and storage. Developed on the
site of a former coal mine, Powerfuel Power Limited (Doncaster, U.K.),
following an agreement signed in 2007, will use Shell's (NYSE:RDS-A)
proprietary gasification technology in the 900-megawatt project. At the
end of June, Powerfuel and GE Energy, a division of General Electric
(NYSE:GE), signed a letter of intent for GE to supply gas and steam
turbines to provide crucial fuel flexibility to support the clean power
targets of the project.
