Media Advisory: CLC to Appear at Commons Committee on Employment Insurance Bill C-50
OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 7, 2009) - CLC President Ken Georgetti will appear before a House of Commons committee on Thursday, October 8 to comment on Bill C-50, An Act to amend the Employment Insurance Act.
The CLC supports Bill C-50 because it will provide extra EI benefits to a group of workers and their communities, but the legislation will help only one in seven unemployed who have exhausted or are about to exhaust their EI benefits. The CLC will continue to fight for more comprehensive EI reform that will help all unemployed workers.
