British Columbia Lottery Corporation: SportsFunder Fuels Family Rivalry Over Women's Gold Medal Hockey Tickets
RICHMOND, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Aug. 20, 2008) - A Delta resident is going to the Women's Gold Medal Hockey Game in 2010 with hopes of supporting Team Canada; however, her husband will join her with hopes of cheering on Team USA.
Carol Frazee won her tickets through SportsFunder's Gold Medal Hockey lottery game, and is among the first in the world to receive tickets to the Women's Gold Medal Hockey Game at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
"My husband is a huge fan but he cheers for Team USA. My favourite memory from the 2006 Olympic Winter Games was gloating when both Canadian hockey teams beat their US rivals!" said Frazee, when asked about the family rivalry. "The entire family are huge hockey fans, my son Thomas plays in the WHL for the Medicine Hat Tigers."
"To have Team Canada and Team USA competing against each other in the Gold Medal Hockey Game would be great - especially for the Frazee family," said Jim Lightbody, BCLC Vice President of Lottery Gaming. "But, like Carol, I'll be hoping Team Canada wins gold."
Currently, the only way to get 2010 Winter Games tickets is to win through playing SportsFunder lottery games. There are currently two SportsFunder games with opportunities to win tickets to the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games, Gold Medal Hockey and Gold Medal Figure Skating.
Proceeds from the sale of SportsFunder lottery games support amateur sports in B.C. through KidSportTM, Team BC, Youth Sport Travel Assistance, and Coach and Leadership Development.
