Bowne Announces Launch of Web-Based Solution for Latest Money Market Disclosure Reforms

June 3rd FundSuiteSX® Conference to Cover New Disclosure Requirements and Bowne's Form N-MFP Solution

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - June 2, 2010) -  Bowne & Co., Inc. (NYSE: BNE), a leading provider of shareholder and marketing communications services, today announced the launch of a new web-based solution for money market funds that will help them comply with the Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) latest amendments to money market reform rules, which were finalized this past February. The new amendments include two important changes to existing disclosure requirements: Rule 30b1-7, which requires money market funds to report their portfolio holdings to the SEC using the new Form N-MFP on a monthly basis in XML format beginning December 7, 2010; and, an amendment to rule 2a-7 that requires funds to disclose certain information about their portfolio holdings on their websites on a monthly basis beginning October 7, 2010.

The solution is a Bowne-hosted, web-based application that enables funds to aggregate multiple data sources in one location and then edit, validate, output and file information to fulfill the new requirements. The product also offers users customization options, including the ability to incorporate their funds' branding into the documents that will be posted on their websites. "The first deadline associated with these new reforms that fund companies must meet is to report September information on their websites by October 7, 2010," said Bill Penders, President of Bowne. "Funds are encouraged to formulate their plans on meeting these new requirements now."

The N-MFP module will have a bridge that enables clients to move data that currently exists within Bowne's FundSuite applications, which are already used by nearly 80% of funds in the U.S., into the new module. However, the web-based N-MFP module is available to all funds -- including those who do not currently use FundSuite -- and can be implemented into any funds' existing workflows.

In addition to providing clients with a robust technology that can be accessed from clients' own desktops around-the-clock, the Company is committed to providing outstanding service support as well as valuable thought leadership, including the Money Market Reform Rule Summary and Money Market Reform Disclosure Summary, both of which are available on Bowne's website.

On June 3, 2010, Bowne will host a panel discussion at the annual FundSuite user conference. The panel will comprise experts in the SEC's latest disclosure requirements, and at this same event, Sean Harrington, Product Manager, will be presenting Bowne's new solution. The discussions will be available following the conference on the Company's website.
