Barker Minerals Ltd.: Ace Project Exploration Update and
Private Placement Closing

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--Barker Minerals Ltd. (BML - TSX/V) 
Louis Doyle, President, announces that work is underway to 
further advance phase one exploration on the Ace gold/massive 
sulphide project in east central B.C. Current work includes 
trenching, some geological mapping, re-logging and 
reinterpretation of previous drilling. Programs underway will 
assist in determining the models or types of massive sulphide and 
gold vein systems, which may be present on both the Frank Creek 
and Ace projects. The resulting models will have a direct bearing 
on future drill and exploration programs on these high potential 
projects.  

Ace Project Summary 

A massive sulphide and gold vein environment has been identified 
through previous programs of prospecting, geochemistry, geology, 
geophysics and diamond drilling. Concentrations of metals found 
in the massive sulphide boulders are up to 16.5% combined 
zinc/lead (Zn/Pb) with minor copper, gold (Cu, Au) and silver 
(Ag). Boulders of the gold/bismuth/tellurium/tungsten 
(Au/Bi/Te/W) quartz vein material have gold values up to 29 grams 
per tonne (g/t). 

Second Closing 

The Company also reports the completion of a second closing of a 
previously announced offering. A total of 6,000 flow-through 
shares and 134,000 units, each unit consisting of one common 
share of Barker and one-half of a warrant, were issued for gross 
proceeds of $35,600. Each whole warrant entitles the holder to 
acquire one common share of company at a price of $0.40 per share 
until July 31, 2004 and $0.50 per share until July 31, 2005. A 
total of $1,460 was paid to finders. The shares and warrants are 
subject to a four-month hold period expiring on November 31, 
2003.
