Atlantic Programs "Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist"; Eclectic Soundtrack to Upcoming Rock 'N' Roll Romcom Features Tracks From Vampire Weekend, Band of Horses, Army Navy, Bishop Allen, Richard Hawley & Devendra Banhart; Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Due September 23rd

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - August 21, 2008) - Atlantic Records has announced the release of "NICK & NORAH'S INFINITE PLAYLIST: ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK," the musical companion to the upcoming Columbia Pictures/Mandate Pictures film. Due in stores and online on September 23rd, the album features tracks from some of indie rock's best and brightest, including Vampire Weekend, Band of Horses, We Are Scientists, Bishop Allen, and Devendra Banhart. "Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist" is slated to open in theatres nationwide on October 3rd.

In addition to songs by such artists as Richard Hawley, The Real Tuesday Weld, and the late, great Chris Bell, the soundtrack also features a previously unreleased tune from L.A.-based newcomers Army Navy, as well as an exclusive selection from the film's score, performed by its legendary composer, Mark Mothersbaugh (DEVO, "Rugrats," "Big Love," The Sims 2).

"NICK & NORAH'S INFINITE PLAYLIST: ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK" will be available for pre-order at http://store.atlanticrecords.com, beginning on August 26th. The first 200 fans to pre-order the CD will receive a limited "Nick & Norah" T-shirt. Furthermore, the Atlantic Records webstore will be offering the album in a limited edition vinyl release.

"Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist" is a comedy about two people thrust together for one hilarious, sleepless night of adventure in a world of mix tapes, late-night living, and live, loud music. Nick -- played by Michael Cera ("Juno," "Superbad," "Arrested Development") -- frequents New York's indie rock scene nursing a broken heart and a vague ability to play the bass. Norah -- Kat Dennings ("The 40 Year Old Virgin," "The House Bunny") is questioning pretty much all of her assumptions about the world. Though they have nothing in common except for their taste in music, their chance encounter leads to an all-night quest to find a legendary band's secret show and ends up becoming the first date in a romance that could change both their lives.

Based on the popular novel by Rachel Cohn & David Levithan, "Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist" was directed by Peter Sollett from a screenplay by Lorene Scafaria, and produced by Kerry Kohansky, Chris Weitz, Paul Weitz, and Andrew Miano. The music is by Mark Mothersbaugh and Linda Cohen is the music supervisor.
