Assante Announces Changes To Artisan Portfolios

WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--Assante Corporation subsidiary Assante Asset 
Management Ltd. today announced proposed changes to the underlying
fund holdings of each of the Artisan Portfolios. These changes 
result from Assante's continual review and monitoring of the 
Artisan Portfolios and their holdings. 

The Artisan Portfolios affected by these changes are the Artisan 
Most Conservative Portfolio, Artisan Conservative Portfolio, 
Artisan Moderate Portfolio, Artisan RSP Moderate Portfolio, 
Artisan Global Advantage Portfolio, Artisan RSP Global Advantage 
Portfolio, Artisan Growth Portfolio, Artisan RSP Growth Portfolio,
Artisan High Growth Portfolio, Artisan RSP High Growth Portfolio, 
Artisan Maximum Growth Portfolio, Artisan RSP Maximum Growth 
Portfolio and Artisan New Economy Portfolio. 

Assante's review of the performance of the Artisan Portfolios 
consists of two parts. First, Assante conducts an assessment of 
the underlying funds. Factors such as adherence to stated 
investment mandate, returns, risk-adjusted return measures, 
assets, investment management process, style, consistency and 
continued portfolio fit are considered. This process may result in
suggested revisions to target weightings of the underlying funds, 
the inclusion of new underlying funds or the removal of one or 
more underlying funds. Second, Assante conducts periodic 
assessments to determine if fundamental changes to the Artisan 
Portfolios are required or desirable. 

Provided an amendment to the simplified prospectus is filed with 
and receipted by the Canadian securities regulators, and investors
are given advance notice of the proposed change(s), Assante can 
mandate changes to remove an underlying fund, add a new underlying
fund or change the target weighting of an underlying fund. 

The attached chart summarizes, for each Artisan Portfolio, the 
proposed revisions to its underlying fund holdings and their 
respective target weightings. 

Implementation of these changes will begin no earlier than sixty 
(60) days from the date that notice is given to unitholders of the
Artisan Portfolios. Following an orderly implementation period, 
all of the changes will be implemented by January 15, 2003.
