LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - January 9, 2009) - The Art Directors Guild (ADG) today announced nominations in eight categories of Production Design for motion pictures, television and commercials competing in ADG's 13th Annual Excellence in Production Design Awards for 2008. Announcement of nominations was made today by ADG Council President Tom Walsh and Awards co-producers John Sabato and John Janavs. Deadline for final voting by members of ADG is February 12. Black-tie ceremonies announcing winners will take place Saturday, February 14, from the International Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

As previously announced, Emmy-winning actor Bryan Cranston (from AMC's "Breaking Bad") will host the gala. ADG's Outstanding Contributions to Cinematic Imagery Award will go this year to director-producer George Lucas. Oscar-winning director Ron Howard will present Lucas with the award. The Lifetime Achievement honor goes to Academy Award winning Production Designer Paul Sylbert. In addition, ADG will induct the following legendary Production Designers from the past into its Hall of Fame: Ted Haworth, Mac Johnson, Romain Johnston, John Meehan and Harold Michelson. During the awards ceremony, ADG will reveal through a visual presentation "The Magnificent 100" -- its selection of the 100 feature films that they consider to display the best production design in theatrical films from 1898 through 2000.
