American Technology Announces New LRAD® Order From U.S. Army for Overseas Force Protection
$450,000 Order Includes LRAD HMMWV Mounts
SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - September 23, 2008) - American Technology Corporation (ATC)
(NASDAQ: ATCO), a leading provider of directed sound products and
technologies, announced today it has received a new $450,000 LRAD® order
from the U.S. Army to support overseas force protection. The order also
includes HMMWV mounting equipment for the LRADs being purchased.
ATC's proprietary LRAD systems and products use directionality and focused
acoustic output to clearly transmit critical information, instructions and
warnings well beyond 500 meters. The LRAD product line can be manually
operated or integrated into a remotely controlled security network's
command and control center. Through the use of powerful voice commands and
deterrent tones, large safety zones can be created while determining the
intent and influencing the behavior of unknown personnel.
"We appreciate yet another opportunity to provide our fighting men and
women with the important capabilities of our acoustic hailing and warning
devices (AHDs)," commented Tom Brown, president and CEO of American
Technology. "Our LRADs have been deployed around the world in a variety of
critical missions and have proven invaluable in giving our troops time and
distance to resolve uncertain situations, potentially saving lives on both
sides of our AHD."
