Amendments to Regulations Respecting the Election of Directors of the Canadian Wheat Board Published in Canada Gazette Part I
OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Aug. 1, 2008) - The Government of Canada is proposing a regulatory change to repeal section 28 of the Regulations Respecting the Election of Directors of the Canadian Wheat Board. This regulatory change would encourage broad debate and participation in the Directors' elections by removing the current $10,000 spending restriction on advertising expenses in place for third-party intervenors, and allowing third parties to freely disseminate information during the election period.
This proposed regulatory change has been published in Canada Gazette Part I, and the public is invited to comment by September 1, 2008.
