KANSAS CITY, MO--(Marketwire - June 3, 2010) -  Barkley, one of the largest full-service advertising agencies, recently released a whitepaper about how it diverted more than 8,000 pounds of waste from landfills. The whitepaper was part of a green education program with InkCycle, a company that produces recycled ink and toner cartridges called grenk.

Kelly Francis, technology liaison director at Barkley, said that Barkley has sponsored four Green Solutions Electronic Waste Drives, reduced waste by recycling, introduced eco-friendly products and began incorporating daily operational energy-saving tactics into the workplace. "We gave our employees reusable shopping totes and encouraged employees to print fewer e-mails, print on both sides of the paper, minimize color printing when possible and use recycled ink cartridges," said Francis.

Barkley's initiatives have resulted in decreased waste, increased recycled items and an overall reduction in energy consumption. The agency intends to continue its green practices and leadership in the green business movement.

InkCycle is a Kansas City-based company with a green line of remanufactured ink and toner cartridges known as grenk (http://grenkblog.com). The company recently produced a series of green-educational Web videos for consumers, corporations and the media about recycling electronic waste, eliminating over-consumption and lessening individual and corporate carbon footprints.
