Aaron Lewis Announces Solo Acoustic Tour; Dates Kick Off October 7th in Boston; Staind Frontman Also Set for Upcoming USO Tour; Persian Gulf Trek to Also Feature Members of Pro Football Hall of Fame
NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - September 21, 2010) - Aaron Lewis, the acclaimed frontman for Atlantic recording group Staind, has announced details of his upcoming solo acoustic tour. The dates begin October 7th at Boston's House of Blues and then continue through early November (see itinerary below).
A committed philanthropist as well as an unstoppable road warrior, Lewis is also poised to embark on an eagerly anticipated and first overseas USO tour for US troops stationed in the Persian Gulf. The as-yet-undisclosed itinerary will see Lewis traveling alongside members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including such gridiron greats as Lynn Swann, Michael Haynes, and Paul Krause.
In other news, the It Takes A Community Foundation (ITAC) -- founded by Lewis and his wife Vanessa -- is happy to announce that the RH Conwell Elementary School in Worthington, Massachusetts has recently re-opened its doors, thanks in part to funds raised by last month's "Aaron Lewis & Friends" benefit concert. The proceeds from the event, which saw acoustic performances from such luminaries as Brad Arnold and Chris Henderson of 3 Doors Down, Shaun Morgan of Seether, LoPro and Brendan Kelley, have enabled the RH Conwell Elementary School to provide a seamless transition from a district run facility to a community school. To date, ITAC has raised $150,000 in support of the school.
The It Takes A Community Foundation focuses on reviving rural communities throughout the greater New England area. The charity works with local leaders and community organizations that have firsthand knowledge of the needs of their communities. It strives to raise funds and support these community groups who strengthen, engage and enrich the communities they are in, sustain diminishing public services and provide assistance to communities in crisis. "My family has been directly affected by school closures in our rural area due to state budget cuts," said Lewis. "We have seen firsthand the necessity for smaller communities to have a voice and to determine their own local needs and priorities. Our foundation strives to do just that -- to build a collective of local community members and empower them to take charge of their own community's future."
With his honest, heartfelt lyrics, resounding guitar chords, and unmistakable voice, Aaron Lewis has led Staind to the forefront of American rock music. 2008's The Illusion of Progress, marked the band's fourth consecutive studio album to debut in the top 3 on the Billboard 200 and features the #1 alternative rock song, "Believe." The iconic hard rock group's decade-long career has seen worldwide album sales in excess of 13 million and five #1 singles spanning three different radio formats.
