LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire - Sept. 7, 2012) - If you've been on personal training courses that work, or are interested in taking your fitness more seriously, then you'll probably know that training hard to get results is sometimes not pretty. From the potential injuries sustained to horrible tasting supplements, it can be quite a gruelling time.
Now, it won't solve the issues of any injuries you might get along the way in your bid to reach your fitness goal but having a tasty protein shake can make the world of difference in encouraging you to stay on your fitness drive!
Protein powder and whey don't exactly get your taste buds raring to go, especially when teamed with fat-free items, so you'll need to use your imagination and add foods that wake up your taste buds. Here's five ways to get yourself a healthy protein shake that won't taste vile:
1. Make sure you're creating the type of protein shake that works for you
If you're trying to lose weight, skip whole milk in favour of skimmed milk, and make up any lacking flavour with extracts and spices.
2. Use natural ingredients
Squeeze juices from limes, oranges and pineapples just before you add them to your protein shake so that they're as fresh as possible.
3. Stick to seasons
Try and pick fruits and vegetables that are in season, as they'll have the best flavour and highest protein content.
There's nothing worse than getting bored of the same protein shake so experiment with things like coconut milk, cinnamon and honey. If you're really after a kick then aniseed or liquorice will see to this!
Variety is the spice of life so why not add a handful of crushed nuts (try Brazil or cashew) for a crunchy kick or puree some raspberries for a smooth, thick shake.
Diversity will help you fend off food boredom so remember to keep your protein shakes as varied as possible to keep up the health drive!
