18 Thousand Canadians support First-Ever Bell Walk for Kids

More than 20 communities from coast-to-coast participated in walks bringing together thousands of parents and children, friends and neighbours, who trekked thousands of kilometres to help Kids Help Phone. It was the first national event for the charity and the most successful in its 13-year history. Based on initial estimates, walkers, pledgers and other supporters helped to raise $1.3 million for Kids Help Phone to date for this one-day event. "The success of this first-ever Bell Walk for Kids is thanks to the sheer dedication of hundreds of volunteers and the positive energy of thousands of Canadians who walked and made donations on May 5th to support Kids Help Phone," said Bill Saul, President & CEO, Kids Help Phone. "The funds we've raised ensure that our professional counsellors can continue to be there for the approximately 1, 000 Canadian children and families who call us every day," he added. "Bell Canada is delighted to have been a part of this wonderful day to benefit Canadian kids," stated John Sheridan, President, Bell Canada and National Honourary Chair of the Bell Walk for Kids. "It is truly gratifying to see Canadians answer the call and rally together, many of whom were our own Bell employees."
