18 Thousand Canadians support First-Ever Bell Walk for Kids

Most successful Kids Help Phone event ever

Canadians turned up in the thousands to support a worthy cause --
our kids -- in the first-ever Bell Walk for Kids. More than 20
communities from coast-to-coast participated in walks bringing
together thousands of parents and children, friends and neighbours,
who trekked thousands of kilometres to help Kids Help Phone. It was
the first national event for the charity and the most successful in
its 13-year history. Based on initial estimates, walkers, pledgers
and other supporters helped to raise $1.3 million for Kids Help
Phone to date for this one-day event.

"The success of this first-ever Bell Walk for Kids is thanks to the
sheer dedication of hundreds of volunteers and the positive energy
of thousands of Canadians who walked and made donations on May 5th
to support Kids Help Phone," said Bill Saul, President & CEO, Kids
Help Phone. "The funds we've raised ensure that our professional
counsellors can continue to be there for the approximately 1, 000
Canadian children and families who call us every day," he added.

"Bell Canada is delighted to have been a part of this wonderful day
to benefit Canadian kids," stated John Sheridan, President, Bell
Canada and National Honourary Chair of the Bell Walk for Kids. "It
is truly gratifying to see Canadians answer the call and rally
together, many of whom were our own Bell employees."

Along with Bell Canada, national event sponsors include CTV, The
Globe and Mail, Sympatico.ca, Bank of Montreal, Cossette
Communication-Marketing, Kellogg Canada Inc., Minacs, Nestlé Canada
Inc., Parmalat and Subway.
