BRUSSELS, BELGIUM and HANOVER, GERMANY--(Marketwire - Sept. 18, 2012) - WABCO Holdings Inc. (NYSE:WBC), (www.wabco-auto.com) a global technology leader and tier-one supplier to the commercial vehicle industry, today showcased its breakthrough MAXX™ air disc brake technology - a new and complete range of high performance, single-piston braking products for trucks, buses and trailers worldwide - at IAA Commercial Vehicles 2012 in Hanover Germany.
WABCO's new MAXX range represents the commercial vehicle industry's lightest and highest performing single-piston air disc brakes. It includes MAXXUS™22 for trucks and buses in North America, which is based on single-piston MAXX 22 technology that the company pioneered in Europe. As previously disclosed, MAXX 22 and MAXXUS 22 have been adopted by globally operating original equipment manufacturers in series production such as MAN in Europe and Daimler Trucks North America respectively.
The MAXX range also introduces WABCO's new and improved MAXX 22T, which is specially designed for trailers and is being adopted for series production in 2013 by one of Europe's largest manufacturers of commercial trailers. MAXX 22T further improves the weight-performance ratio of WABCO's single-piston PAN trailer braking technology, which is recognized as one of the industry's most successful air disc brakes.
Superbly engineered and compactly designed, WABCO's MAXX range reduces the vehicle's overall weight, boosting fuel efficiency and enabling more transport payload. MAXX 22, the lightest air disc brake of its kind, is also best-in-class for reliability. MAXX 17 and MAXX 19 are specially engineered for light- and medium-duty trucks. As previously disclosed, WABCO is sole supplier for 17- and 19-inch MAXX air disc brake applications for series production in 2013 at a global manufacturer of commercial vehicles headquartered in Europe.
"Our new and improved MAXX range further demonstrates WABCO's technology leadership as we extend our breakthrough single-piston air disc brakes into specific truck, bus and trailer applications in different regions of the world," said Mike Thompson, WABCO Vice President, Compression and Braking. "WABCO's MAXX and MAXXUS air disc brakes represent a game-changing generation of high performance, low weight braking technology that further improves vehicle safety and efficiency through our passion for innovation."
