Amika Mobile's award winning Amika Mobility Server (AMS) for critical and emergency alerting will be fully deployed at La Cité collégiale - Ottawa's French Language College. AMS will deliver emergency and critical alerts to students, staff and visitors. The project was partially supported by a government of Canada program that fosters collaborative innovation.

AMS receives either user-directed input or sensor events from disparate physical systems such as access control, cameras and fire panels. It thus delivers targeted or en masse alerts over its 16 alerting layers to mobile phones, TV monitors, VoIP phones, desktops, laptops, Twitter, RSS Feeds, Facebook, etc. The AMS has been in an operational trial at La Cité collégiale for several months before full deployment. Its unique auto-discovery of directories and devices is critical to campus emergencies when visitors are often roaming about.

"The deployment of AMS will benefit La Cité collégiale because AMS has the potential to alert mobile users directly on mobile devices, laptops and desktops through pop ups in French or English as needed in critical situations", stated Dr. Sue Abu-Hakima, Amika Mobile's CEO.

"AMS is a step forward in mass notification at La Cité collégiale. The participation of students and staff members to extend the product and make it available in French in partnership with Amika Mobile is key for the college." said Lise Bourgeois, President of La Cité collégiale.

According to Gartner's January 2012 Market Scope report, emergency mass notification systems (EMNS) is now a Best Practice. Gartner also points out the importance of personalized critical and emergency notification. According to the US government, college and university campuses continuously face emergencies with crime statistics on the rise; as such it is critical for higher educational institutions like most organizations to have EMNS.
