Gentex Shipping for 2009 Ford Flex

ZEELAND, MICHIGAN--(Marketwire - June 18, 2008) - Gentex Corporation (NASDAQ: GNTX), the leading supplier of automatic-dimming rearview mirrors to the worldwide automotive industry, has announced that it is shipping auto-dimming interior rearview mirrors for the all-new 2009 Ford Flex. The Flex is Ford's new full-size crossover that will be sold in North America beginning this summer.

A Gentex interior auto-dimming mirror with compass transducer will be standard and a compass and microphone auto-dimming mirror will be an available option on the SE, SEL and Limited trim levels. Gentex mirrors darken automatically in response to the headlamp glare of rearward-approaching vehicles. The compass feature uses Gentex's proprietary Z-Nav® compass transducer, a highly-accurate compass sensor that determines the vehicle's directional heading.

"Gentex is excited to partner with Ford as it introduces its newest crossover," said Enoch Jen, Senior Vice President. "Offering Gentex's proprietary built-in microphone as part of the Ford Sync™ communication system provides for safer, hands-free use of cells phones and other technology."
