LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - February 8, 2008) - Southern California's plunging gas prices skidded to a halt in the last week, according to the Automobile Club of Southern California's Weekend Gas Watch.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $3.080, which is 0.4 cents lower than last week, 26 cents less than last month, and 53 cents above last year. In San Diego, the price is $3.098, which is 0.5 cents more than last week's price, 26 cents below last month, and 54 cents higher than last year. On the Central Coast, the average price is $3.245, up five tenths of a cent from last week, 20 cents under last month, and 54 cents more than last year. In the Inland Empire, the average price is $3.064, 0.7 cents below last week, down 26 cents from last month, and 50 cents higher than last year.
"Prices aren't rising quickly right now and are just hovering at about the same level as they were last week," said Auto Club spokesperson Jeffrey Spring. "It's hard to say whether this is the end of price decreases or a brief break before they start going down again. Some recent reports have indicated that prices could head down this spring. Others have pointed higher. We'll have to wait and see."
