Recapture of Inmate from Montee Saint-Francois Institution

LAVAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - June 18, 2013) - As a result of a collaborative effort between the Correctional Service of Canada (CSC), the Sûreté du Québec and the Service de police de Laval, federal offender Dave Bernatchez, who had escaped from Montée Saint-François Institution on June 16, 2013, was recaptured on June 18, 2013 without incident, in Laval.

At the time of his escape, Dave Bernatchez was serving an indeterminate sentence since July 4, 1979 for second degree murder, robbery, arson, disguise with intent, break and enter, possession of a prohibited weapon and use of a firearm.

CSC will review the circumstances surrounding the incident and will take necessary measures to address any safety and security issues resulting from this incident.
