Washington DC Orthodontist Attends Invisalign Summit in Macau

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - Apr 3, 2013) - Dr. Wayne Hickory, a Washington DC orthodontist, was one of the first orthodontists in the entire country to offer Invisalign®, an innovative orthodontic treatment. In addition to serving as the Clinical Director for the companies that distribute Invisalign® in Indonesia and Vietnam, Dr. Hickory teaches certification courses and administers advanced user group meetings in these countries several times a year. Most recently, he attended an Invisalign® Summit in Macau, China.

According to Dr. Hickory, Invisalign® straightens patients' teeth without wires or braces, using a series of customized, computer-designed, clear sleeves called aligners. He adds that the aligners are almost invisible and they can be easily removed for eating and brushing teeth.

The Invisalign® Summit in Macau, which took place in October 2012, gathered leading Invisalign® practitioners from countries throughout Asia who shared their Invisalign® treatment techniques. Dr. Hickory, a frequent contributor to these international conferences, also gives online treatment-planning support using the 3D computer modeling software developed by Invisalign®. This modeling software allows practitioners to perform each treatment virtually before the actual treatment begins, yielding improved, more predictable results for patients.

Dr. Hickory originally introduced Invisalign® in Hong Kong nearly a decade ago. Now, doctors in Asia routinely address complex Invisalign® cases rising to the high standards of the industry.

Even before the opening of his Washington DC orthodontics practice, Dr. Hickory has always exhibited a passion for dentistry education. He taught as a full-time faculty member of the Orthodontic Department at the University of Amsterdam and the University of Maryland. Recently, he co-authored a chapter of a new textbook on facial aesthetics focusing on the new digital technology used for treatments such as Invisalign®.
