Calgary Food Bank April Events

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwire - April 1, 2013) - Spring has sprung and so have the many food drives that are popping up around the city. The need is never down so the Calgary Food Bank is tremendously grateful for the following events that will keep the shelves stocked for Calgarians in need.

Sunday, April 7

Hustle for Hunger

Where: Eau Claire

When: 9 AM

What: 6^th annual 10K Run, 5K Run/Walk, 3K Run/Walk supporting the Calgary Food Bank. Visit CBI Health Group for more information.

Monday, April 8

Encana's Race Against Hunger

Where: Macleod Trail CO-OP (8818 Macleod Trail SE)

When: 10 to 11:30 AM

What: Join the World Professional Chuckwagon Association as they race around the store gathering Calgary Food Bank wish list items in a fun showdown to launch this newest partnership.

Saturday, April 13

AMA Shredding event

Where: AMA Shawnessy Centre (600, 85 Shawville Blvd SE)

When: 10 AM to 3 PM

Friday, April 19

Loblaw's Extra Helping™ Food Drive

Where: Calgary Real Canadian Superstore locations

When: April 19 through May 4

What: Loblaw banner stores have a long history of supporting food banks in their local communities. Since the launch of the Extra Helping™ Food Drive campaign in 2009, Loblaw has raised over $5.6 million in cash donations and 6.3 million pounds of food. Additionally, it has donated $1.125 million corporately.

Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21

Supertrain

Where: Subway Soccer Centre

When: 9 AM to 5 PM

What: Bring a donation to the Calgary Food Bank and receive $1 off admission to Supertrain, Canada's largest model train show!

Tuesday, April 23

Celebrity Chef Brewmasters Dinner with Dieu du Ciel

Where: Craft Beer Market (345 10 Ave SW)

When: 6 PM

What: Enjoy a five course dinner and beer pairing from Top Chefs and support the Calgary Food Bank. Each Chef will create a course to be paired with a beer from Quebec's Brasserie Dieu du Ciel. Visit Craft Beer Market for information and tickets.

Saturday, April 27

AMA Shredding event

Where: Southcentre Mall (100 Anderson Road SE) in the south parking lot

When: 10 AM to 3 PM
