Outbrain Acquires Visual Revenue

Combined Technologies Offer Publishers an End-to-End Solution for Optimizing All of Their Content Across Any Channel, Screen Size and Device

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - Mar 7, 2013) -  Outbrain, the leading content discovery platform, today announced the acquisition of Visual Revenue, the leading provider of tools to enhance the hand of online editors and improve performance on their homepages, section fronts and social channels. Through this acquisition, Outbrain expands its offering for online publishers, providing them with an end-to-end solution for optimizing all of their pages across any channel, screen size and device, with both automated and editorially controlled solutions.

Visual Revenue's platform enables editors to see how every link on the homepage and section fronts currently perform versus how they performed in the past, get recommendations for what content to use and where to place each story on the web page, and optimize content shared on social channels. Deployed on more than 250 media platforms globally, including Comcast, The Atlantic, The Dallas Morning News, NBC Universal, Le Monde and USA Today, the company saw its highest ever month of activity in February of 2013. Now one of the largest content optimization solutions available on the Web, Visual Revenue tracks and measures the success of more than 13.5 billion pages each month.

"As fans of great journalism, we strongly believe in the important role the editor has in the newsroom, and through this acquisition we're further empowering editorial decisions with actionable insights using data and analytics," said Yaron Galai, Co-Founder and CEO of Outbrain. "Combined with our industry-leading content recommendations, this acquisition helps further our top-line mission to match readers with quality content, first through links to recommended reading and now through great content on the homepages of the sites they like to visit. We're committed to building a long-term business in the content discovery space and look forward to welcoming Visual Revenue to the Outbrain team."

"Visual Revenue and Outbrain share a common goal of providing the best possible content recommendations. Our data-driven tools for editors are a perfect complement to Outbrain's links to suggested reading," said Dennis Mortensen, Founder and CEO of Visual Revenue. "Together, we can help provide publishers with the tools they need to grow their business and provide readers with the best possible experience."

All 25 members of the Visual Revenue team will join Outbrain as a result of the acquisition. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
