AXA ART to Be Honored With Americans for the Arts Prestigious 2012 Corporate Citizenship in the Arts Award

NEW YORK, NEW YORK--(Marketwire - Oct. 15, 2012) - AXA ART, the only international art insurance specialist, has been named the 2012 Corporate Citizenship in the Arts honoree by Americans for the Arts. Each year the nation's leading non-profit organization for advancing the arts and arts education recognizes and celebrates the achievements of individuals and corporations who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and support of the visual and performing arts, arts education and philanthropy.

The Corporate Citizenship in the Arts Award category was created to honor a high-profile, major corporate leader with a history of positive contributions to the arts. AXA ART will be presented with this esteemed tribute during The 2012 National Arts Awards recognition event on October 15, 2012 at Cipriani Restaurant 42nd Street, in New York City. The annual event attracts more than 400 of the nation's top arts leaders each year. Christiane Fischer, President and CEO of AXA ART's operations in The Americas will accept the award on behalf of AXA ART.

On the art insurer's selection, Robert L. Lynch, the President and CEO of Americans for the Arts said, "We wish to honor AXA Art Insurance not only because of its long time support of exhibitions and art conservation but also because of the work that it has done in the field of education related to the proper handling of works of art. AXA Art Insurance is truly a treasured member of the cultural community and we are honored to be able to recognize its indelible contributions to the arts."

Noted art collector and philanthropist, Martin Z. Margulies observed, "I am very pleased that Americans for the Arts has tapped AXA ART for this prestigious honor. As a collector and friend of AXA ART, I can attest to the company's commitment to the care and protection of works of art. With its well-known support of research in conservation and educational series on art market topics, AXA ART continues to raise the bar in advancing awareness on topics in collection management."

As the Corporate Citizenship in the Arts honoree, AXA ART will be among a notable group of awardees: Investor and Microsoft co-founder, Paul G. Allen will receive the Eli and Edythe Broad Award for Philanthropy in the Arts; author, filmmaker, and philanthropist Lin Arison, co-founder of the Presidential Scholars in the Arts Program, will receive the Arts Education Award; Tony Award-winning stage, film, and television actor Brian Stokes Mitchell will receive the Award for Outstanding Contributions to the Arts; Grammy nominated singer Josh Groban will receive the Bell Family Foundation Young Artist Award; and pop art painter and artist rights advocate James Rosenquist will receive the Isabella and Theodor Dalenson Lifetime Achievement Award.
