San Diego Personal Injury Lawyer Daniel Gilleon Appears on Channel 10 San Diego News Detailing Settlements Regarding Arevalos Matter

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - Aug 11, 2012) - Daniel Gilleon, a San Diego personal injury lawyer and a partner at the Mitchell | Gilleon Law Firm, hereby alerts the public that he has been mentioned in an article that appeared on the Web site and was also interviewed on the news broadcast of Channel 10 News in San Diego recently. His appearances were regarding his representation of several clients in ongoing legal claims against the City of San Diego relating to the alleged conduct of former police Officer Anthony Arevalos. At least four of the seven clients that are being represented by Mr. Gilleon have reached settlements with the city.

Specifically, the article and broadcast appeared on August 2, 2012 and they both mentioned that at least 11 claims have been filed against the City of San Diego regarding alleged sexual misconduct by Officer Arevalos against women he had pulled over during traffic stops. The claims are a precursor to filing California personal injury lawsuits against a public entity. 

Rather than proceed to the court system with all of these claims, at least four of them were settled by the city. Mr. Gilleon would not specify which claims were settled nor would he specify the amounts involved, but he had the following to say in the article that appeared online and on the television broadcast: "When all is said and done, the taxpayers will be paying millions to settle these cases." Mr. Gilleon represents at least three more women who are pursuing claims against the city for the alleged conduct of former Officer Arevalos.

According to the article, former Officer Arevalos was convicted in criminal court in 2011 of groping women and trying to elicit sexual favors during traffic stops. Mr. Gilleon stated on the broadcast that settlement negotiations are ongoing with regards to the other three women he represents who have yet to resolve their specific legal claims against the city.
