Pethealth Announces PetPoint Release 4.0

Fourth generation of leading animal management application offers enhanced functionality and new modules for animal welfare groups

OAKVILLE, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - May 4, 2011) - Pethealth Inc. (TSX:PTZ) ("Pethealth" or the "Company"), the leading provider of animal data management software to animal welfare organizations is pleased to announce the launch of PetPoint Release 4.0, offering new functionality and tools leveraging cloud technologies, and enhanced modules for better tracking, flexibility, and navigation.

Release 4.0 highlights include significant upgrades to the existing Medical module, providing better tracking of medical histories and scheduling of future treatments. The Medical module will also feature expanded surgical procedures, test result tracking and the addition of prescription food management. Intakes and Outcomes have been moved to a tab-style screen to simplify navigation with improvements to multi-animal functionality and greater flexibility throughout.

Additional features include:

  • New Animal Group module for creation and management of bonded pairs, litters, etc.
  • New Express Animal and Person screens for fast creation and modification of core sections.
  • Licensing redesign including multi-jurisdictional licensing and licensing requirements functionality.
  • Net book and tablet optimization for mobile users.

"I am extremely proud of Release 4.0," says Steve Zeidman, Managing Director of PetPoint Solutions at Pethealth Inc. "Release 4.0 is the culmination of nearly 6 years of development, largely driven by the input of our PetPoint community. By listening to their suggestions and understanding their needs, our partners have helped shape an invaluable, multi-functional tool allowing our members to manage their animal welfare initiatives effectively and efficiently."

As a hosted application, PetPoint allows licensed users to reduce, if not eliminate, their IT-related infrastructure costs. Taking full advantage of the new modules and improvements within the platform, users indicate PetPoint also saves them time and helps reduce the length of stay of animals in their care.

In addition to enhancing the operational efficiency of licensed organizations, through PetPoint, the Company is able to collect substantial aggregate data related to shelter activities. By end of 2010, Pethealth held records on over 11 million animals, 7.5 million vaccinations, nearly 2.2 million behavioral tests, and over 1 million spay and neuter surgeries. In October of 2010, the Company launched the monthly PetPoint Report, the first and only publication providing year-on-year comparison of different categories of animal intakes and outcomes through which trends in animal welfare can be identified through objective analysis. A more detailed version is also available including municipal, regional, and state data.

About PetPoint

PetPoint, first introduced in 2005, is now licensed by nearly 1,650 animal welfare organizations in North America and has facilitated the adoption of over 2.8 million pets, including nearly 800,000 adoptions in 2010 alone. As a hosted application, animal welfare organizations can not only better organize and care for their homeless and abandoned animals, but can also reduce significantly, if not eliminate, their IT related infrastructure costs. PetPoint is provided free to animal welfare organizations on the basis that these same organizations use the Company's 24PetWatch microchip program for all companion animals adopted. The 24PetWatch microchip program is the most widely used microchip and lost pet recovery service operating in both Canada and the United States.
