Mesa Couple Claims $1.1 Million The Pick(TM) Winning Ticket

PHOENIX, AZ--(Marketwired - Mar 24, 2015) - The Arizona Lottery announces that a $1.1 million The Pick winning ticket sold in Heber, Arizona from the drawing on Saturday, March 21, has been claimed.

Ricky and Connie Ferguson were enjoying a visit to Heber this past weekend. The couple was concerned they would get home too late to purchase their ticket for the Saturday drawing. They decided to play The Pick game before leaving Heber and purchased a ticket using Connie's own numbers. The couple was the only winner of the $1.1 million The Pick jackpot.

The winning ticket was purchased at a Lottery retailer located at 1581 Mainline Road in Heber. After speaking to a financial advisor, the Fergusons selected the $718,954.20 before taxes cash option. After paying off some bills, they plan to continue working and invest the money for their future.

"We love presenting prize checks to Arizona winners," said Tony Bouie, executive director of the Arizona Lottery. "Seeing the smiles on their faces is so satisfying, knowing it will have a big impact on their lives."

The winning ticket matched all six numbers drawn. The winning numbers were 01-02-09-27-37-40, and the prize was claimed at the Arizona Lottery office in Phoenix.

The Pick offers many appealing features to players, including four ways to win a cash prize. The starting jackpot is $1 million, and the second prize for matching five of the six drawn numbers, is $2,000.

The next drawing for The Pick will be held Wednesday, March 25, for an estimated $1 million jackpot. Tickets can be purchased at any Arizona Lottery retailer.

Players must be 21 years or older to purchase or redeem tickets. Winners have 180 days from the drawing date to claim their prize at an Arizona Lottery office or by mail. Overall odds vary by game. All sales are final. In accordance with the ADA, these materials may be made available in an alternative format. Gambling Problem? Call 1.800.NEXT STEP (1-800-639-8783). Please Play Responsibly™.
